Chief Brown Selected to Lead Amarillo College Police Department

Elizabeth A. Brown, a seasoned law enforcement executive with more than 24 years of progressive leadership experience, was sworn in as Chief of Police for the Amarillo College Police Department Feb. 24 at the AC Board of Regents meeting. Brown brings a distinguished record in public safety and the private sector, including service with the Amarillo Police Department where she was a Captain for 8 years. She earned a master of arts in communication from West Texas A & M University and is an Amarillo College Alumni. 

AC Police Department spread joy through its new Christmas initiative

Christmas was brighter than it might have been for more than 30 families from the Amarillo College workforce and student body thanks to a collaborative initiative spearheaded in December by the AC Police Department (ACPD).

The ACPD’s inaugural Christmas Initiative actually was twofold. First, AC employees provided gifts Angel-tree style for the children of fellow employees facing financial strain. In all, 52 kids in 27 families received Christmas presents from folks who work at the College. Recipient anonymity was entrusted to the Human Resources Department, which collaborated on the project.

AC Police again to host activities in observance of National Night Out

True to its promise, last year’s National Night Out presented by the Amarillo College Police Department (ACPD) was “a celebration to remember,” and folks of all ages had so much fun that the ACPD is hosting the free event again in 2022.

Featuring bouncy inflatables, free hotdogs and snow cones, face painting, safety-related booths and activities, and much more, National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
